Judaism: What is Match-Making in the Dating Process?
With the divorce rate at over 50% in the general population, it seems that trying to find the "right" one is not that easy when left on one's own. And, what is the level of commitment that people bring to each other? What is the framework for the marriage? Is it built around work? Community? Pleasures?
In observant Jewish dating, both people are committed to a Jewish way of life. And, when the personalities match and they are able to commit to each other, they are able to form a household of faith, commitment and love. Starting from the same framework is a large part of the work.
Does the idea of match-making sound antiquated and from another time? Over the years, it has had a far better success rate than 50%!
